Abstract EN

The current study aims to measure the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on directing family's attention towards enabling children to use modern technology in the fourth industrial revolution era.

It mainly relies on the social survey method and sampling technique, and uses the three- point Likert scale to collect quantitative data from a sample consisting of 300 families, of which each hundred belongs to a specific economic class.

The study has yielded many findings, of which the most important is the fact that there is a statistically significant difference between the economic standard of the family and enabling children to use modern technology in favour of the high-income and middle- income families.

Further, it has been found out that there is a statistically significant difference between the social aspect of the family as represented in the educational level and enabling the child to use modern technology in favor of those with university qualifications.

In addition, it has been revealed that the most notable change imposed by Covid-19 upon the role of family in enabling children to use modern technology is the need to both promote the technical skills of parents and children and create an account for each child on the internet in order to catch up on the developments in distance learning.

The study also concludes that the major problem that prevents families from carrying out their role in enabling children to use modern technology during Covid- 19 is the novelty of distance learning and its failure to take account of the individual differences.
