English Abstract

The study aimed to identify the degree of Palestinian universities do their part in building a knowledge society from the standpoint of Al Quds Open University Nablus branch members.

To achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher used the descriptive approach, and access to the necessary data, by preparing a questionnaire consisting of two parts: The first consisted of demographic information is gender, academic degree, work experience, age, specialization, and educational stage.

The second part is composed (54) items questionnaire which was distributed to a survey sample from the members teaching staff at Quds Open University Nablus branch of (52) which is equivalent to a rate (25.1%) of the study population.

The results showed that the role of the Palestinian universities in building a knowledge-based society from the point of a sample of Al Quds Open University Nablus branch members view came with an average of (3.09) which is equivalent to (62%), and this shows that the role of the Palestinian universities in building a knowledge-based society from a sample of Al Quds open University academic staff Nablus branch members view was high.

The results also show that there are differences statistically significant differences in the role of the Palestinian universities in building a knowledge-based society from the point of a sample of Al Quds Open University academic staff at Nablus branch members due to the variable (age) where it was statistically significant at the significance level (α = 0.05), while It shows that there is no statistically significant differences attributable to the variables (gender, academic degree, scientific expertise and specialization).

In light of the findings the researcher recommends the following:- 1) Activating the partnership between the university and local and regional institutions, knowledge and mutual benefit base.

2) Focusing on scientific research that targets specific needs of the community, and to benefit from the scientific research produced by universities and international research centers , and to be modified to suit the needs of the community.

3) Openness to the world and to communicate with advanced universities and scientific research centers to keep up with scientific development and progress.

4) Interest in the deployment and employment of information technology and its application in various areas of life, and provide a variety of knowledge sources such as electronic libraries and incantation, providing data and statistics serve the community base.
