After achieving independence, the Tunisian government focused on reforming and modernizing education, unifying school curricula, and making education in all stages and branches linked to the Tunisian government in a central way that is not a new generation of young people who believes in the new modern ideas that Habib Bourguiba wanted and which are on the ground in Tunisia.

The project to eradicate illiteracy, and the opening of new schools in all Tunisian cities and villages was among the most prominent efforts the government made to achieve to spread education comprehensively in all parts of the country, as well as implementing thoughtful educational plans that worked to organize education affairs at all stages, and to make education available to males and females.

Both from elementary school through to higher education.

It was necessary to prepare national educational and educational cadres that were responsible for spreading education in line with the new governmental orientation in building a modern Tunisian state.

Indeed, the number of Tunisian teachers and teachers increased significantly, exceeding the percentage of foreigners who were studying in Tunisian schools before independence was achieved.
