Abstract EN
Across the time, four forces have been major engines of globalization: religion, technology, economy, and empire.
Warfare only became a globalizing force during the twentieth century.
This article outlines the history of how these forces hope caused globalization, and discusses the effects of these forces upon globalization in the twentieth century.
The focus is on tlte impact of globalization upon the Third World in general, and Africa in particular.
A distinction needs to be made between globalization and hemisplterization.
For the Third World, full globalization will arrive only when, in addition to North-South exchange, there is substantial South-South exchange, to counterbalance the exploitative nature of North-South relations.
Although globalization has worsened the condition of Africa in some important ways, globalization has in the twentieth century permitted the emergence of black and African moral leadership on a world scale.
Terrorism has become globalized, but the toorld needs more than a coalition against terrorism.
The world needs a coalition in search of genuine peace.
