The private life of writer Miguel Angel Asturias was inspired by the production of literary works, as he held a diplomatic position and received the Nobel Prize in Guatemala.

Language, grammar and sentences were used violently for results serving the community.

This work was translated into several languages, and used in cinema and theater, all for social benefit.

The novel shows political, economic, and social elements, there is also a lack of mercy and inhumanity evident through the events of the novel, the writer was trying to clarify what was going on during that period.

Asturias showed the dictator as a mysterious figure in the depth who does not appear and feel its bad influence on all sides.
