Abstract EN

The purpose of the present comparative study between the two philosophers: Al-Ghazali and Ibn Rushd is to uncover who best has the right to lead us intellectually should we have inspired the spirit of each's Arab Islamic philosophical heritage and projected that heritage into the current situation of philosophy.

Their impact is clear and deeply rooted in some ideological currents ranging from moderation to extremism where the first represented by the Radical Right Al-Ghazali and the second by Secular Left Ibn Rushd respectively.

Thus this study deals with the intellectual confrontation between the two philosophers through making a comparison between their attitudes toward many philosophical issues.

The paper concludes that Al- Ghazali's religious background has an Impact on his philosophical judgments and decisions and that he is a debated figure contrary to Ibn Rushd.

who most scholars and researchers agreed upon to be an enlightenment figure with purely philosophical premises and the uncontested proponent of intellect.

That is why his influence on the Latin West has been stronger than the rest of Muslim philosophers foremost among them is Al-Ghazali whose influence has been to the minimum on theologians who strongly defend their advanced positions in the church.
