This research aims to analyze Ibn Khaldun's geographical ideas and opinions in his famous introduction (Introduction to Ibn Khaldun), especially the characteristics of cities, the reasons for their emergence, the factors of their growth and development, the results of accelerated urbanization from his point of view and the problems associated with them, to find out how Ibn Khaldun views geographical phenomena, what is his geographical philosophy in His study of the city.

The most important results reached by this study are that the geographical issues discussed by Ibn Khaldun revolve around the astronomy of sociology, so his main interest was on human geography, and because the city is the spatial space in which the urban population lives, Ibn Khaldun's studies in this aspect focused on Distinction and comparison between the city and other areas of human stability (rural or nomadic) that fall within the region of the city or its surrounding areas.
