Abstract EN

This paper introduces the Victorian era in Jude the Obscure of Hard showing a clear picture of English society.

It critically studies how women are portrayed not the works of Hardy, particularly in Jude the Obscure.

The paper questions not only the attitude of women, but also how women have been imaged in Jude the Obscure.

The study immensely traces how women turn from revolutionary and rebellious to submissive.

It attempts to answer some questions likewise, is it a search for a peaceful space or it is a compromising way to live among the monstrous society.
