Abstract EN

Human consciousness is one of the wonders of the world.

It integrates sensation, perception, emotion, and interpretation, often understanding events in sequences that Include causal analyses and extended narrative structures.

Being conscious means that the individual has the ability to have subjective experiences, wishes, desires, and complex thoughts and to perform flexible, self-initiated, purposeful behaviors.

Moreover, unconscious processes are very often highly important for human functioning, and many phenomena, such as attitude formation, goal pursuit, stereotyping, creativity, and decision making are impossible to fully understand without incorporating the role of conscious processes.

To understand how much conscious and unconscious thoughts do contribute in writing poetry, an online questionnaire was conducted.

One hundred poets (82 male & 18 female) responded to this questionnaire.

Analyzing the data, revealed that majority of the poets (67) blended conscious and unconscious thoughts in writing their works, there are some of them at each of the two extreme; (13) at conscious end and (20) at the other end unconscious.

The differences between male and female poets are insignificant.

As well as the differences according age and educational level are insignificant too.

Poets with long experiences tend to be more unconscious than younger poets.

Writing in standard language is more conscious than in writing colloquial dialect
