Abstract EN

This paper highlights the romantic character of one of the most pioneering Arab romantic poets, Mustafa Wahbi al-Tall, often called "Arar".

Due to his passionate, sensitive character and tender temperament, Arar was deeply absorbed in romanticism.

Beside his acquaintance with the modern poetical (and literary) trends of his time, Arar was a highly educated poet.

Arar experienced a similar life to that of European romantic poets.

His motivational drives were also similar to those of other romantics.

His poetry portrayed a wide variety of romantic's themes and motifs.

It also came as a revolution against the miserable circumstances under which his people lived.

His poetrywas also inflamed with the attitude of social alienation, the adoration of nature and his authentic affection of his homeland.

Furthermore, the reader of Arar's poetry can easily realize the poet's intolerance of strict classical conventions and traditional themes.

He appears in particular, as a pioneer in the employment of free Verse in Arabic poetry
