Abstract EN
We report an unusual case of internal jugular vein thrombosis in a 33-year-old female patient who presented with a right-sided painful neck swelling.
Diagnosis was proven by color Doppler ultrasonographic examination.
Thrombosis screen revealed that the patient had heterozygotic mutation of factor V Leiden.
Causes of internal jugular vein thrombosis are reviewed.
The molecular basis of this mutation is described, and the importance of screening for hereditary thrombosis states is highlighted.
