Abstract EN

This study sheds light on the term (grammatical obligation) according to Ibn Aqil, and how Ibn Aqil employed this term.

Grammatical obligation is a principle of Arabic grammar that emerged among grammarians, but distinguished by Ibn Aqil more than others, as he used it in many explanations of opinions and provisions given by Ibn Malik in his Alfia.

Ibn Aqil does not deviate much in his principles from the framework of the Basra grammar school, and this term is in many areas of his explanations.

This work comes to limit these areas which Ibn Aqil stated as obligatory, comparing these opinions with the opinions of his grammarian predecessors, and whether these principles were unique to Ibn Aqil or following those who preceded him.

It is clear to me that he does not deviate much from the views of the Basra grammar school, but sometimes preferred the views of the Kufa school which he considered closer to the views of the Basra people.

This study seeks to investigate these issues through consulting grammar books, in order to reach an accurate scientific conclusion.
