Abstract EN

The concept of metacognitions is considered an important factor in development and treatment of all different psychological disorders especially obsessive – compulsive disorder.

the current study aimed to evaluate the role that "metacognition" plays in causing obsessive – compulsive disorder among a sample of university students in comparison with the normal.

The study sample consisted of (n=90) female students from Education faculty King Khalid university distributed over the four years of the B.

And B.A.

programs, their ages range from (18-22) years old: divided to (n=45) with obsessive – compulsive disorder with an average of (18.9) and a standard deviation of (1.06) year and (n= 45) normal a selected as a comparison group with an average of (19.6) and a standard deviation of (1.1) year.

Suitable tools were used to examine and evaluate the variables of the study such as completing metacognitive Scale Al- Jarrah and Obeidat (2011) and The Yale–Brown Obsessive– Compulsive Scale.

The study results showed the following: There is a correlation between performance degrees on metacognition scale (regulation of cognition, knowledge of cognition and cognition processing) and the performance on obsessive – compulsive scale.

There are significant differences between OCD and normal groups in performance on metacognition scale in the favor of OCD.

The results also revealed that OCD can be predicted in terms of performance values on metacognition scale.

And the highest average in connected to OCD group is connected to regulation of cognition level
