Abstract EN
The word ''Kaaffaa'' has been a debatable issue among linguists and interpreters for a long time.
Debate involved issues related to its meaning, parsing, the use of 't' suffix attached to it, its defiantness addition, and when it followed a preposition as well as other debatable issues among linguists and interpreters who had different views.
The present study attempted to identify and explain these views.
The study found out that though there are various lexicographic and terminological meanings for this word, they all share the concept of (prevention) which agrees with all common contexts.
The most common view is parsing this word as an adverb of manner though Alzamakhshari parsed it as an adjective for an elided gerund basing his view on the principle of interpretation and twisting text to achieve the intended meaning.
Furthermore, there are eloquent two ways to use this word that have to abide by the rules set by our ancient grammarians.
Finally, the 't' is part of the word that is not used for exaggeration or to mark feminine gender.
