The research aims to identify the potential of local Islamic commercial banks to finance economic activities and support economic diversification, and can it be relied upon to finance economic activities to reduce dependence on the state.

The decline in oil revenues has affected the state's ability to meet its short- and long-term obligations.

This requires the adoption of programs to improve the financial situation.

On the other hand, mitigating the dependence on oil revenues and leaving the reinter feature of the Iraqi economy (with the intention of diversifying sources of income and financing), including the knowledge of the possibilities of commercial banks, especially Islamic to achieve those goals.

The banking system is the vital financial artery in the economy.

It finances all economic activities.

Developments in the nature and diversity of economic activities have also evolved into bank financing instruments to conform to the requirements of economic activities.

In the Iraqi economy, the development of the banking system, especially commercial banks, was in the nature of the effectiveness of its tools and methods of financing or in terms of size and assets.

Private Banks increased to 62 private banks distributed among 24 local commercial banks and 15 foreign banks in addition to 23 Islamic banks (19 local Islamic banks with 4 foreign banks).
