Abstract EN

This article deals with metonymy in Ibn Sinan Al-Khafadji within the framework of a pragmatic vision revealed by the sections of his book entitled "the secret of eloquence" in a way that cannot be exceeded, we had to highlight their places given the care we gave to the context, the speaker and the receiver, in an attempt to present a reading combining the rhetorical approach of Ibn Sinan AL- Khafadji and the degree of its conformity with pragmatic principles by what can enrich the course of Arabic rhetoric.

Our research concluded that metonymy in AL- Khafadji writings was not a simple substitute verbal processing for aesthetic reasons but rather a pragmatic technique aiming at clarifying meaning with its requirements.
