Abstract EN

This study aims to identify the types, sources, causes and effects of pressures in Palestinian media institutions and their reflection on the professional performance of the contact person.

This study is considered a descriptive study that used the survey method and in its framework the method of surveying media practice methods.

The study applied/relied on the theory of the contact person (gatekeeper) and the entrance to professional practice.

The study was applied to a sample of contact persons in the Palestinian media institutions acting in Gaza Strip, using the available sample method, of approximately (213) respondents.

The study attained a set of results of which the most prominent ones: The study showed that the highest types of pressures are the political pressures (ownership and control), and they came with a relative weight of 73.

The study indicated that the most important sources of pressure are the different work conditions that came with a relative weight of 84.

The study showed that the motivation to work came in the highest positive effects resulting from the positive pressures in the Palestinian media institutions, as it came with a relative weight of 82.

The study showed that the most important way to face pressures in Palestinian media institutions is to increase incentives and rewards, as it came with a relative weight of 79.

Study recommendations: Apply/Implement systems and policies that guarantee the granting of incentives and penalties, and apply the civil service law that guarantees all civil rights for those contact persons similar to the rest of the employees.
