Abstract EN

Due to the high number of kidnapping cases in Algeria, especially children, a state of fear has arisen in the circles of civil society, noting that most kidnapping cases end in the death of the victim in a brutal manner.

The Algerian legislator issued a special law for the prevention and fight against kidnapping crimes, which is Law 20/15 of On December 30, 2020, Official newspaper n°81the most important of what is included in the prescribed penalty for felonies of kidnapping persons, whether adults or children, in addition to procedural and preventive provisions to address this crime.

The question that was raised in this article mainly revolves around the most important new penalties approved by the Algerian legislature to confront this crime compared to what it was in accordance with the provisions of Order 66/156, in addition to the circumstances that tighten or mitigate them, and the most important thing that was reached is that the penalties were tightened to be more Deterrence in facing the perpetrators of this type of crime.
