The Preventive legal defense becomes a controversial terminology in the field of The international law, notably after the end of the Second World War and the creation of the United Nations which banned any intervention in the states' affairs and the use or threat of force against the integrity of its territory.

The fact that led to a great debate on the legitimacy of the preventive legal defense, especially when it has been used by great countries like the United States of America as a reason for international intervention, eventhough its use endangers international peace and security.
