Abstract EN

Substitution is one of the most important phonetic phenomena in the study of dialects.

It helps identify the changes that occur in the Arabic dialects.

Its most important goal is to ease and facilitate the pronunciation of sentences and words.

Some sounds are difficult to pronounce because of the effort that the vocal cords make to produce them.

In the present research, I focus on the sounds with critical places of articulation, such as q, ? , ʕ, and ð.

This is when the latter sounds undergo the process of substitution in one of the modern Palestinian dialects which originate from other ancient Arabic dialects and which were influenced by the diverse successive civilizations in Palestine.
