يكتسي موضوع حماية البيئة في القانون الدولي أهمية بالغة ذلك لأن مستقبل البشرية يتعلق بكفاءة تلك الحماية، حيث يطرح موضوع البيئة عدة نزاعات بسبب مشكل التلوث و ما يسببه من أضرار تحد من مجهودات التنمية المستدامة للدول، و يعتبر التحكيم الدولي من أقدم وسائل التسوية السلمية للنزاعات الدولية، وقد ازدادت أهمية هذه الوسيلة باعتمادها في العقود الأخيرة في مجال المنازعات البيئية، و تبرز أهميته بالنظر إلى المميزات و الخصائص التي يتمتع بها مقارنة مع باقي الوسائل الأخرى لحل النزاعات الدولية و خاصة منها القضاء.
Abstract EN
The question of the protection of the environment in international law is extremely important, because the future of humanity is linked to the effectiveness of this protection, while the question of the environment raises several conflicts due to the problem of pollution and the damage it causes and which limit the countries' sustainable development efforts.
Also, international arbitration is considered one of the oldest means of peaceful settlement of international disputes.
The importance of this method has increased with its adoption over the last decades in the field of environmental disputes, and its importance is evident in view of the advantages and characteristics it presents over other modes of international dispute settlement, especially justice.

La question de la protection de l'environnement en droit international est extrêmement importante, car l'avenir de l'humanité est lié à l'efficacité de cette protection, tandis que la question de l'environnement soulève plusieurs conflits en raison du problème de la pollution et des dommages qu'elle cause et qui limitent les efforts de développement durable des pays.
Aussi, l'arbitrage international est considéré comme l'un des plus anciens moyens de règlement pacifique des différends internationaux.
L'importance de cette méthode a augmenté par son adoption au cours des dernières décennies dans le domaine des différends environnementaux, et son importance est évidente au vu des avantages et des caractéristiques qu'elle présente par rapport aux autres modes de règlement des différends internationaux, en particulier la justice.
