High potential students or intellectually precocious children represent 2 to 3% of the school population, all backgrounds combined.
Knowing how to detect them, better knowing their specificities is essential to better support them in their education.
The objective of this article will be to present at first the different terminologies of the term high potential and the theoretical conceptions proposed by the researchers then we will be interested in a second time at the psychological and academic difficulties that some of these children encounter and the methods taking charge of these difficulties by referring to the various researches done on the subject.

Les élèves à haut potentiel ou Enfants intellectuellement précoces représentent 2 à 3% de la population scolaire, tous milieux confondus.
Savoir les détecter, mieux connaître leurs spécificités est essentiel pour mieux les accompagner dans leur scolarité.
L'objectif de cet article sera de présenter dans un premier temps les différentes terminologies du terme haut potentiel et les conceptions théoriques proposées par les chercheurs ensuite nous nous intéresserons dans un second temps aux difficultés psychologiques et scolaires que certains de ces enfants rencontrent et les méthodes de prise en charge de ces difficultés en nous référant aux différentes recherches faites sur le sujet.
