The purpose of this study was to investigate the kinematic alterations at different distances for male runners with mild intellectual disability (ID) during 400-m time trials.
Three male athletes with mild and moderate ID from Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah Disability Club track and field team aged between 17-19 years ran 400-m time trials.
The runners' strides were recorded at 100, 200 and 300 m by 3 digital cameras.
All participants were members in the Saudi Arabia National Team of Special Olympics.
The runners experienced shorter stride lengths at 300 m, largest flight times at 300 m and the foot contact times were greatest at the 300-m distance.
The results showed greatest horizontal velocities and displacements for participant 1 at 300 m, for participant 2 at 200 m and for participant 3 at 100 m.
Moreover, the results showed similar data between angular changes for participants 1 and 2 and significant differences for participant 3 in body joints.
The study findings revealed that: There was a great convergence between the values of the angular change of the body joints during the imaging of the three cameras for sample player (2).
There was a great convergence between the values of the angular change of the body joints with slight differences that need some guidance during the imaging of the three cameras for sample player (1).
There was a big difference between the values of the angular change of the body joints during the imaging of the three cameras for sample player (3).
The values of the average displacement and linear velocity of sample player (2) represented the largest values of the linear displacement and velocity averages for shooting with camera (2) (100 meters).
The values of the average displacement and linear velocity of sample player (1) represented the largest values of the linear displacement and velocity averages for camera (3) (200 meters).
The values of the average displacement and linear velocity of sample player (1) represented the largest values of the linear displacement and velocity averages for camera (4) (300 meters).
