During the Ottoman rule, Tripoli distinguished by its great importance represented in its strategic location that overlooks the Mediterranean Sea, which was a linked the North European wich, Southern Africa.

Karamanli dynasty, which ruled Tripoli province for 24 years 1711 – 1835 AD, they tried to establish their rule almost independently from the Ottoman Empire.

This period was fraught family struggles for power, as well as accompanied by several revolutions against the rid of the persecution of the Karamanli rulers, on the other hand, the conflict of the Karamanli dynasty with the European countries which exploited the internal division of the Karamanlis, so some of them began to support to a specific part against the other, as a consequence this policy contributed to firing the conflict during the rule of Ali Pasha Karamanli, who tried to eliminate these revolutions and trouble, and including the external interventions, but he failed, until the Ottoman fleet arrives at Tripoli port and put an end to the Karamanli dynasty in 1835 AD
