Equivalence in translation is to be achieved on several levels: linguistic, structural, dynamic, communicative, functional , stylistic …etc.

But the translator is usually hesitant to decide to which level he must give priority.

For this very reason, the present study discusses the levels of its achievement while translating Quranic text through the survey of two translations – English and French –of some verses of Surah Ar-Rahman, adopting an analytical and comparative method.

The purpose is to answer two central questions: To which level the Quran translator must give priority in equivalence? Can equivalence be attained in all levels alike? The research concludes that it is required to prioritize equivalence levels depending on text requirements, that rendering the Word of Allah is approximate and cannot be complete because it reflects the translator’s interpretation of the Quranic meanings , which proves its linguistic inimitability
