The study aimed at identifying the reality of vocational awareness of the needs of the labor market among King Khalid University students, identifying the obstacles to developing the vocational awareness of the needs of the labor market among the students of King Khalid University and finding the requirements for raising vocational awareness of the labor market needs of King Khalid University students, as well as developing the role of King Khalid University in raising the level of vocational awareness of the needs of the labor market among its students in light of the requirements of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
In order to achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher relied on the descriptive approach.
The study also relied on the questionnaire as a tool and applied it to a sample of 467 students at King Khalid University in its theoretical and applied colleges.
The study found that the most important obstacles to developing the vocational awareness of the needs of the labor market among King Khalid University students are: the weakness of university information systems in giving students a clear picture of the requirements of the labor market, in addition to the weak coordination of the University with the institutions of the labor market to train and qualify students at work sites and the weakness of the role of university professors in the vocational awareness of students of the needs of the labor market.
The study also concluded that one of the most important requirements for the development of vocational awareness of the labor market needs of King Khalid University students is that the curricula include topics that raise awareness of the needs of the labor market, in addition to that the university develops practical skills of students through specialized training courses and agreements with business institutions to educate students about the required professional skills.
There are no statistically significant differences between the averages of respondents in their views on the development of vocational awareness of the needs of the labor market of the undergraduate students due to the variables (gender and type of college).
