Abstract EN

The study mainly aimed to identify the impact of prevention measures to limit the spread of Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) represented in imposing home quarantine on the rates of family violence in Makkah Al- Mukarramah (Mecca).

To achieve the aim of the study, the method of social survey sample was used, and a purposive sample - Snowball sample - consisting of (388) individuals from five residential areas within the city of Makkah Al-Mukarramah was chosen.

A questionnaire that took into account the scientific standards was distributed to the entire group, and the study revealed a number of results, the most important of which are: The absence of a correlation between home quarantine and domestic violence in the city of Makkah Al-Mukarramah, and the absence of any relationship between home quarantine and the high rates of domestic violence, and that home quarantine during the Coronavirus pandemic had positive results such as an increase in intimacy within the family and the absence of family conflicts, the forefront of which is domestic violence.

The study concluded with a number of recommendations the most important of which is strengthening awareness programs and supporting the material and human potentials qualified to deal with crises in general and the coronavirus crisis in particular to promote awareness, prevention and protection and to prepare family-oriented programs on the best ways to use time during home quarantine period which can also contribute to increasing family bonding on the one hand, and in developing various skills on the other hand.
