Abstract EN

This study aims to highlight the role that the Al-Ma'afir Yemeni tribe played in the conquests of Andalusia.

- The importance of this study stems from the historical facts which the researcher found in his research.

These facts proved without a doubt the role that the members of this tribe played during the conquests of Andalusia, especially Muhammad bin Abi Aamer, who came into power of Andalusia and was responsible of the Islamic conquests which reached the north of Spain.

- The importance of this study lies in the fact that it deals with the role of a Yemeni tribe that contributed significantly to the process of the Islamic conquests in Andalusia, and in the valuable information it provided on many areas of Spain, especially the kingdoms of Castile and Leon.

And for the sake of making this study a success, the researcher depended on the historical approach, and this study produced several results, the most important of which are: - - Many members of the Ma‟afir Yemeni tribe migrated during the Islamic conquests to Africa, and then set out for Spain within the campaign of Tariq bin Ziyad and Musa bin Nusair, and many of them settled there.

- - This study showed that many of the members of that tribe assumed leadership positions; such as, Tarif bin Malik Al-Ma‟afri, who leaded of the reconnaissance mission in the south of Spain in 91 A.H., which made the men of the Al-Ma‟afar tribe the first to set foot on that lands.

- - This study showed that some of the Ma‟afir tribe's members came into power in Andalusia, including Al-Hajib Al-Mansour Muhammad bin Abi Amer and his two sons: Al-Muzaffar Abdul-Malik, and Al-Nasser Muhammad.

- The study also found that there are areas in northern, northeastern and northwestern Spain that were conquered under the leadership of Ibn Abi Amir Al-Ma'afri.

These areas were not reached by any of the Arab of Muslim conquerors because of their roughness and harsh climate.
