Abstract EN

This research deals with Turkey's policy in the search and exploration of hydrocarbon resources in the Eastern Mediterranean more than 300 meters deep in water, through its ships like "Khair al-Din Pasha Barbarous" and "Uruj Rais".

Turkey is continuing in drilling operations using the "Al-Fateh" ships and "Yaooz".

The study finds there are two important reasons behind Turkey's drilling in the Eastern Mediterranean: the first reason is to reduce dependence on abroad to get its energy needs, and the second reason is to protect its rights in the region.

It is noted that the the second reason is more important than the first reason because Turkey is the key country to achieve stability in the region through alternative diplomatic channels.

Also, Turkey is obliged to exist and presence strongly in the Eastern Mediterranean, to be a part of the decision-making mechanism.
