Abstract EN

The Qira’at which were not included in the Uthmanic Codices are a debatable issue amongst scholars.

Some scholars believe that these qira’at were abrogated, some say they were not authentic, others say they were left out, although were authentic, because the caliph Uthman wanted to unite Muslims on the Uthmanic Codices.

The current article examines these different opinions and looks at their evidences.

Critical analysis and assessment of the opinions are provided.

It is concluded that the opinion of abrogation is not supported by evidence.

Moreover, disregarding these qira’at does not contribute to answering relevant questions.

Furthermore, the opinion which says that the companions decided to leave these qira’at is not without criticism.

Nevertheless, this study proves that the latter opinion is the preferred one
