Abstract EN

The aim of this study is to compare between the linguistic structures and to show the optimal structure among the ‘mutawatir’ readings (readings transmitted by so many trustworthy persons as to be beyond doubt) through an analytical descriptive study.

Actually, the importance of this study lies in the fact that Holy Quranic readings are different from other peculiar readings in the linguistic subject due to the effect of both religious and linguistic aspects.

By and large, this study includes an introduction to readings definition, also it clarifies predicate and its various types.

Then, appling the optimality theory on both the active and passive sentence.

In conclusion, the findings of this study show that the Holy Quran encompasses most of the syntactical structures as well as its uses in Arab speaking, yet the Holy Quran prefers some syntactical structures according to the structural preference concept.
