Abstract EN

The study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of the use of social media in communication between mathematics teacher and parents in the achievement of fourth grade students in mathematics in Jordan.

The sample of the study consisted of (40) Pupils divided into two groups: An experimental group consisted of (20) Pupils' whose parents were contacted using social media (Facebook, WhatsApp, e-mail), and a control group consisted of (20) Pupils' whose parents were contacted in the traditional way.

The data for the study were collected using an achievement test prepared by the researcher.

The achievement test was verified for validity and stability following appropriate procedure.

In addition, an open-ended interviews were conducted with parents.

The results of the study revealed statistically significant differences between the two groups of study in favor of the experimental group on the achievement test in mathematics.

The results from the interviews with parents showed their support and encouragement for the use of social media as a means of communication between them and the teachers of mathematics.

In the light of the results, the researcher recommends the use of social media as a means of communication between mathematics teachers and pupils' parents to address the problems related to pupils' achievement and homework performance.
