Abstract EN

This study aimed to identify the levels of self-esteem and death anxiety among Palestinian prisoners during the period of collective hunger strike in (Israeli) occupation prisons.

The study group included 170 male and female released prisoners of Israeli occupation prisons who took part in a collective hunger strike that were chosen selectively.

By using a scale for both levels of self-esteem and death anxiety, the results showed that the level of self-esteem among the prisoners during the collective hunger strike was high.

The level of death anxiety among the prisoners during the hunger strike indicated that it was low.

The results also indicated that there were no statistically significant differences in the level of self-esteem among the prisoners during the strike according to gender, social status, age group and scientific qualification.
