called (Targeting the Moon) in teaching Gazan third graders on developing their reading comprehension skills.

To achieve the objectives of the study, a list of reading comprehension skills were used and distributed into three levels , each level embraced 13 subskills.

A reading comprehension test was developed and administered.

Relevant appropriate statistical methods and tools were used.

The results showed that there were significant differences in the means of scores at ( .5%) between the experimental group who learned via the proposed method and the control group who studied via the normal way favouring the experimental group in terms of reading comprehension skill and its subskills including literal understanding, elicitation and creative thinking.

They outperformed the control group and the percentage was 76.6%.

Also, there were significant differences in the pre and post-tests that targeted the reading and comprehension skills.

The study recommends the focus on developing the levels of reading and comprehension skills in the lower elementary stage and stressed the importance of adopting teaching strategies that involve active participation of the children in their own learning such as targeting the moon.
