Abstract EN

This piece of research is framed by an Islamic vision and depends on a descriptive analytical method.

It attempts to deal with the dialectic relation binding issues of identity and culture to religion: Tamazight as case study.

It equally seeks to discuss Islam’s vision and the way it treats identities and cultures in terms of being a culmination of humans’ coexistence in life even before being related to Islamic religion.

Accordingly, we attempt to answer the following questions: Is Islam an ethnic local religion as some people argue, does Islam oblige its holders to dismiss all the habits and customs related to their identity, what is the attitude of Islam regarding identity and culture, is it true that Islam has been forcefully imposed on north African people ?
