Abstract EN

This study aims to reveal aspects of the relationship of Ash’ari theology to Islamic philosophy by searching for the factors of early confrontation between these two areas of knowledge in the Islamic context.

In this regard, a set of factors can be laid out.

Some of these factors were related to the articles of dissenting theologists (particularly Mu’tazilah) while others were related to the articles of dissenting philosophers to the Ash’ari viewpoint, especially those articles on divinity Investigation.

However, this confrontation did not last long in the face of the factors of the development of the late Ash’ari theology lesson.

Such development made it open to philosophy and its assimilation.

It was so influenced by philosophy in methodology and content to the extent that the technical subjects were mixed and were difficult for many to separate between them.

Faced with this epistemological reality, a number of Ash’ari theologists voiced out their warnings against some books that exaggerated the mix between theology and philosophy, and called for a return to the former foundation books for constructing beliefs and avoiding doubtful matters.
