This paper presents a survey of some of the most recent research work on the extraction phase of the Iris recognition system.

Iris biometric system has been used for person recognition in wide applications where person identity authentication required for its stability and uniqueness as compared to other biometric systems.

Iris based recognition systems consist of stages are Iris localization, normalization, feature extraction, and matching.

The extraction of features influences the precision and reliability of the biometric system, so several methods have been used.
