Abstract EN

This study explores the contributions of Abū Al-Walīd Al-Bāji to the method of argumentation in his book: "Al-minhāj fī tartīb al-hijāj".

It aims to highlight Abī Al-Walīd Al-Bāji's classification of argumentation and the current issues in modern argumentation theories.

The study will follow the descriptive method without inserting or dropping the modern argumentation terms and its concepts in discussing Al-Bāji.

The paper would discuss his ethical principles for argumentation, the principles of cooperation to achieve successful argumentation, the structure of terms in argumentation system, textual arguments, untextual arguments, and argumentation tools.

The study concluded that Al-Bāji's argumentation efforts are consistent with the contributions of the modern argumentation theorists albeit that Al-Bāji preceded them and was more prominent in the details of argumentation, as evident in his discussions about moral principles, principles of cooperation, and terminological abundance.
