Summary: The subject of Harkis and Goums is still considered a sensitive issue, in the history of Algeria in general and the history of the Revolutionary War in particular, even after fifty-six years from independence.

Due to the deliberate opacity surrounding, the archival documents which contain the names, role, and activity of those who collaborated with the French army during the revolution; their stories are remained confusing for the public which raised a dilemma among the Algerians who were Brainwashed Algerians, seduced with privileges just to tear the nation's unity.

We aim through this article to trace the French strategy of trying to stifle the Algerian liberation revolution by recruiting Harkis and Goums teams within the French army and to what extent they succeeded or failed to do so.
