Democracy appeared on the Athenian political stage during the rule of Cleisthenes, who laid down his constitution organizing the rule at the end of the sixth century BC and the beginning of the fifth, and democracy as a system reached the highest degree of development and maturity - in ancient history of course - in the era of Pericles.

The system was based first and foremost on the essential pillars that Solon denounced, namely the freedom of the individual.

Therefore, in this study we tried to uncover the most important milestones that Athenian democracy went through and we took the Solon period as a starting point, because the latter although he did not declare this name, but provided Athenian society with rights and duties that are compatible, even relatively, with the principles of democracy, then we stopped at the point.

The second is the most important political constitutional reforms of Clisthenes in order to consolidate democracy, and finally we highlighted the manifestations of actual Athenian democracy that prevailed in the era of Pericles, or what is called the height of the prosperity of Athens and the Greek world as a whole.
