Abstract EN

In this study, we will try to know the causes of the phenomenon of suicide by focusing on social factors; even though these are not the only influencing factors.

The social transformations especially at the level of the family cell, which accelerated a few years ago, created a favorable environment to increase the tendency towards suicidal behavior, especially among young people.

As the family is the basic cell in society, and a social institution whose existence is associated with human existence, its protective role remains crucial in the prevention of suicide according to the results of research and scientific studies as well as the reports of the competent organizations.

Hence, our current study is to examine the protective role of the family and its importance in any strategy to prevent suicidal behavior.

In this study, we have used a number of methodological procedures, among which: - The use of the statistics of National Gendarmerie, to discover the development of this phenomenon in the Algerian society; - Distributing a questionnaire to a sample of 115 individuals who already experienced suicide behavior; - Using the methods of quantitative and qualitative data analysis;
