This research focuses on revealing the meaning surrounded in a literary text, as sign translators' creative practice around it, mainly on their personal experiences as readers first, then as re-tellers of these texts.
therefore, the present work provides examples that illustrate the role of intertextuality in translation through the novel “as I lay dying”, by the American writer William Faulkner.
the study problem centers upon how important is the intertextuality in translating.
the research seeks also, as a result of the above analysis, to point out the necessity of establishing and rising indicative methods and technics about intertextuality that simplify the translation of texts.
so that these new techniques overcome the restricted boarders of current trends in translation studies research.
the study adopts the descriptive analytical method.
