Abstract EN

Wandering spleen is an uncommon diagnosis and has been rarely diagnosed in children.

The diagnosis is usually made at the time of operation.

Splenectomy has been performed in almost all of the reported cases with few reports of successful splenopexy.

We hereby report an 11-year-old boy who was admitted as an emergency case with 3 days history of colicky abdominal pain, fever, leukocytosis and severe peritoneal signs.

Torsion of wandering spleen with infarction and ischemic lacerations was the diagnosis.

Splenectomy was performed with a smooth postoperative course.
