Abstract EN

This research aims at highlighting one of the most important themes in the modern narration theory, and it is the time in the novel.

modern senior researchers in the field of narration and very old ones as well gave much attetion to timing in narration.the most important studies done in this field are formalists and structuralists studies.

They developped the narrative research and enriched it with important theories.

Among these theories we find paradox timing in novels, and it is a paradox resulting from the difference between the timing of discourse and the timing of the story, and moving from the present time to the future which is called anticipation.

Both flash back and anticipation have kinds and branches, each of them splits into internal, external, individualstic ,iterative, partial, complete, each of them has its uses that serves the plot and helps the coherence of the general structure of the narrative text.
