Abstract EN

This paper aims to study figure structure when initiating poems of Gamharat Asha'ar Al-Arab semiotically.

It firstly defines initiation, its delimitations, and its types in Gamharat Asha'ar Al-Arab.

Then, it analyzes the semiotics of both figurative image (i.e., simile, metaphor, metonymy) and free image (i.e.

board, shot, scene).

The paper concludes that in initiation, a figure may take various forms such as icons, pointers, and symbols that embody life conflict in time and space
