Abstract EN

In many cultures and languages,the PedsQlcMScale was used extensively in measuring the quality life of cancerian children and adolescents aged 2 to 18 years and their parents.

We translated the scale into Arabic to examine its reliability and validity then,we applied it on a sample of 147 cancerian children and adolescents and their corresponding parents together with 145 of healthy children and adolescents.

We used a Cronbach and test-retest methods to estimate reliability.

Also we used the internal structure and discriminatory items and sub- scales in estimating validity.

Study findings showedthat consistency coefficients rangedfrom 0.72 to 0.93 in children and adolescents and from 0.79 to 0.92 in their parents.

Stability coefficients ranged from 0.67 to 0.88 in children and adolescents; and from0.78 to 0.92 with their parents.

Besides, it showedacceptablesignificant correlations between items and the sub-scales; and between sub-scalesand the total score.

In addition, there were statistically significant differences between cancerian and healthy examinees at 0.01 level, except perception of the appearance of the body sub-scale.

The results of the current study confirmed the validity and reliability of the PedsQlc.M, and thus, can be used in clinical testing, research and clinical practices.
