استهدفت هذه الدراسة الكشف عن طبيعة أثر النشاط السياحي على البيئة، في ظل وجود اتجاه يعتبر أن هذا الأثر إيجابي، و اتجاه آخر يقول عنه أنه سلبي.
وقد توصلت الدراسة أن النشاط السياحي يمكن أن يكون له أثر إيجابي على البيئة في بعض الجوانب و أثر سلبي في جوانب أخرى، مع وجود محددات و عوامل تتحكم في هذا الأثر و طبيعته
