Abstract EN

This study aims to shed light on the transition which the phenomenon of marriage has undergone by highlighting the sociologique variable leading to the new values and concepts acquired by the matrimonial regime like the education and the employment of Algerian women.

Our work is based on an analytic study of various population censuses and national surveys conducted in Algeria, in addition to the field study completed at Tlemcen university The results have showed that the education and the employment of women lead to increase their marriage age and extend their celibacy period to advanced ages, and change the model of matrimonial choice from a familial arranged choice to a personal choice, and smaller the family size because of the birth deacrease.
