This study aimed at recognizing the extent of applying NCTM standards for mathematics teachers in preparatory stage, and recognizing the differences in applying NCTM standards for mathematics teachers in preparatory stage according to the variables of study.
To achieve the aim of study, the researchers designed the steps of study according to descriptive analytic approach.
They constructed an observation card as a tool to gather information.
They applied this tool on mathematics teachers in preparatory stage in Baghdad to recognize the extent of applying NCTM standards in classrooms as they perform in classroom situations.
The population of study was 30 mathematical teachers: 18 male/ 12 female.
The researchers had the following results after using the appropriate statistical processes: * Items that had high percentage of (high degree) in observation card were as follows: item (14) had the highest percentage of 43.3% .
Item (18) had the percentage of 33.3% .
Item (6) had 23.3% .
Whereas, items that the highest percentage of (low degree) were as follows: item (9) had 80% , item (8) had 75% .
* There are statistically significant differences between the means of mathematics teachers degrees in applying NCTM standards in preparatory stage.
't' is 2.30 at the level of 0.05 for male teachers.
* There are no statistical significant differences at the level of 0.05 between the means of mathematics teachers' degrees in preparatory stage according to the variable of expertise.
'F' is 9.19 so it is statistically insignificant.
