The purpose of this article is evaluation of the possibilities of using denitrifyingdephosphatation to enhance biogenic compounds' removal in the wastewatertreatment plant with separated nitrification on fixed-film.
The analysis was basedon the multi-variant simulations of the combined system: fixed film activatedsludge performance.
Activated sludge ASIM 2d model related with the modelof pollutions transformations in fixed film was used.
The results of exploitationanalyses were performed according to the input parameters: average daily rateof wastewater, pH, COD values, total suspended solids, total Kjeldahl nitrogen, nitrate nitrogen, total phosphorus and alkalinity.
The results indicated that thereis a possibility of including fixed film in the activated sludge technology in orderto improve nitrogen and phosphorus removal from the wastewater.
Nitrificationprocess will be performed in fixed-film, whereas nitrogen and phosphorus removalfrom the wastewater will be performed in anoxic chambers which operate in theactivated sludge technology.
Denitrifying dephosphatation process guaranteesthe high level of total phosphorus reduction (81% ), but only if the whole easilydecomposable substrate will be consumed by microorganisms in the anoxicchamber and if enough nitrates will be present in the environment.
